The Presence of God Changes Everything

That was the conviction at the heart of the Sunday worship service led by Pastor Vishwas Masih at Life in Christ Shalom Church, Brampton, Ontario, on Sunday, September 20, 2026. For nearly an hour, the congregation worshipped in Hindi and Punjabi, opening with a prayer of thanksgiving, reading Psalm 1 aloud in full, and singing song after song about one unshakable truth: God’s presence is with His people, and His presence changes everything.

The Anchor: If Your Presence Does Not Go With Us
“If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.” (Exodus 33:15)
These were the words Moses spoke to God, and they are the anchor of this service. When God’s presence is with you, the service taught, fear turns into faith, confusion turns into clarity, weakness turns into strength, and ordinary moments become extraordinary. The service opened with a reading of Psalm 1, the picture of the believer planted by the waters:
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:1-3)
He Is With Us: The Cloud by Day, the Fire by Night
One of the central songs of the morning declared, “वो साथ है” (He is with us): by day the cloud, by night the pillar of fire, He is with us. Just as the Lord led Israel through the wilderness with a cloud and fire, His presence goes with His people today. The congregation sang it again and again until it became a confession: He is with us, He is with us, He will not leave.
He Will Never Leave
Another song carried the promise of “ना छोड़ेगा” (He will never leave): He never leaves us alone, never, never. He is true to His promises, and He is a good shepherd. In the storms and in the valleys, in the lonely nights of life and in every difficulty, He does not leave. His people are never alone, because He never leaves.

Fill Me With the Spirit
The worship moved into deep longing for the Holy Spirit. “मेनु भर दे रूह नाल” (fill me with the Spirit): put on the robe of the Holy Spirit and become His witness. “रूहे पाक खुदा बंदा तू आ” (come, Holy Spirit, Lord God): come and dwell in body and soul. Then the declaration rang out: when the flames of the Spirit come (“रूह के शोले लपक लपक जब आते हैं”), every bondage breaks and falls. Rain falls from the clouds of the Holy Spirit (“बारिश होगी रूहे पाक के बादल से”), washing clean the temple of the heart from within. And when Jesus comes in the form of the Spirit, Satan falls.
Carrying His Presence Into Your Week
- Begin with thanksgiving. The service opened with simple gratitude: thank You, Lord, for Your name, Your glory, Your presence. Start your days the same way.
- Read and meditate on Psalm 1. Be the tree planted by the rivers of water. Meditate on His law day and night, and you will bear fruit in your season.
- Sing your way through the storm. When confusion or fear rises, sing what this congregation sang: He is with us, He will never leave. Let the song become your confession.
- Ask to be filled. Pray the cry of the service: fill me with the Spirit. Ask Him to dwell in your body and soul, and to make you His witness.
- Bring Him your bondages. When the flames of the Spirit come, bondages break and fall. Name yours before Him and let Him break them.
- See His face and hear His voice. Ask for spiritual eyes fully opened and spiritual ears opened, to see His radiant face and hear His still, small voice.
A Prayer from the Service
Lord, we thank You that You were pleased with our worship. We ask, Father, that our eyes, not just the physical ones, would be fully opened in the Spirit, and our ears opened spiritually, so we can see Your radiant face and hear Your gentle voice. Let the Word You spoke through our pastor settle into our bodies and souls and bear much fruit, and make us a reason for Your name to be glorified. Bless every online viewer, bless every person who came with their hopes and desires, and fulfill them from Your great storehouse. Use us for Your glory. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
